Overview: Under the direction of the Standards Policy and Strategy Committee, STI/33 is responsible for standardization activities in the field of electrodeposited and related coatings, including organic and anodic oxidation coatings on aluminium. STI/33 also covers the technical subjects of vapour deposited, mechanically deposited, and chemical conversion coatings. Its aims are to a) ensure that UK interests are represented at all stages of the development of European and International Standards through the submission of written comments and, as appropriate, by attendance at meetings of the corresponding European and International technical committees, and, b) to review published British Standards on a regular basis to assess current relevance and prepare any revisions deemed necessary. STI/33 mirrors the activities of CEN/TC 262 Metallic and other inorganic coatings (excluding Working Groups 2, 5 and 7), ISO/TC 79/SC 2 Organic and anodic oxidation coatings on aluminium, ISO/TC 107 Metallic and other inorganic coatings, SC 3 Electrodeposited coatings and related finishes, SC 7 Corrosion tests and SC 8 Chemical conversion coatings. STI/33 has liaison activities with ISE/NFE/8 Corrosion of metals and alloys; STI/34 Hot dip galvanised coatings; STI/36 Vitreous enamel coatings; STI/40,Thermal spraying and thermally sprayed coatings; and, FME/9/-/1 Surface coatings for fasteners.
