ISO/NP 6019 Test methods for effective substances quantitative analysis in fresh or low-degree processed food produce -- General requirements and definitions

Scope

This document specifies the general requirements of test methods for quantitative analysis of specific substances that have been reported to be effective for promoting human health in fresh or low-degree processed food produce.

This document does not specify the storage process prior to receipt in laboratories through transport from the harvest area.

Purpose

Fresh products is important components of a healthy diet, and WHO/FAO promote its consumption. Especially produce containing effective substances are valuable for health-conscious people. A lot of exhibitions and business meetings have been actively held in various countries in recent years to contribute to health maintenance and improvement. Under such circumstances, evaluation and research on effective substances contained in fresh produce have intensively progressed. These research fields are relatively new, and few quantitative methods of effective substances have been standardised. In the future, it is expected that trading of fresh or low-order processed produce labelled with the amount of effective substances as an appealing material will become more active, and the necessity of ensuring smooth trading is recognized. For this reason, this document defines the performance required for such a quantitative method for effective substances. This contributes to the provision of objective information when determining the quantitative methods that can be used for trades.
