Overview: Under the direction of PEL/69, the subcommittee is responsible for the preparation of British Standards on the subject of small electric modes of transport, and the UK’s input to IEC/TC 125 and CLC/SR 125. It addresses aspects of electrical and mechanical safety, reliability, functional safety, EMC, maintenance, docking stations for public use and recycling, and associated infrastructure. Small electric modes of transport include, but not limited to those which operate with the use of a battery, are intended for road use, and are smaller than a car, i.e. e-scooters, personal transport devices, e- transporters, e-cargo transporters, hybrid transporters, etc. Electric passenger cars, trucks, trains, trams and trolleybuses, as well as maritime and air electric modes of transport (e.g. small craft, drones etc.), are out of scope of this subcommittee. Standardization of e-bikes and cycles covered by GME/25, and ATVs and quads covered by AGE/6, are excluded. PEL/69/1 will liaise closely with related technical committees. PEL/69/1 will monitor the work of IEC/SyC SET Sustainable Electrified Transportation, and CLC/SR SET Sustainable Electrified Transportation, and participate in projects related to its scope.
