Overview: Under the direction of the Standards Policy and Strategy Committee, is responsible for the UK input to CEN/TC 142 - Woodworking machines - Safety and International committee and ISO/TC 39/SC 4 - Machine tools - Woodworking machines. Specifically excluded from the work of MTE/23 are woodworking machines and tools that are designed for use by one person by hand. These machines are dealt with by Committee CPL/61/6 - Portable motor operated tools.
