Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements and measures for horizontal cutting cross-cut sawing machines with one saw unit (radial arm saws) with manual loading and/or unloading of the workpiece and capable of continuous production use, hereinafter referred to also as “machines”.

Purpose

Currently no international standards on safety of woodworking machines exist. Regional (EN) standards on this subject exist and are being used as blueprint for similar, but not identical, national standards in several countries. In order to avoid diverging requirements a set of international standards on woodworking machine safety is imminent.
