Scope

This document specifies requirements and test methods for stainless steel vacuum container for domestic use with drinks and food. The products contain flasks, air-pot, food container and Insulate cup.

Purpose

In recent years, the global market of stainless steel vacuum insulated containers has developed steadily, and the overall consumption has shown a continuous upward trend. From the perspective of sales, the four major markets of Europe, North America, China and Japan have been the main consumers of stainless steel vacuum insulated utensils in the world, and the total consumption market share of the above four has exceeded 84%. From the perspective of production, product design and development, production control and international trade all require internationally recognized and unified technical standards. This is conducive to product design innovation, process optimization, and improve the convenience of international trade. At the same time, improve product quality and give consumers a better experience. 

At present, most countries do not have corresponding product standards. Moreover,there are no unified international standards for this type of products. Now there are mainly: EU standard EN 12546-1:2000 " Materials and articles in contact with foodstuffs-Insulated containers for domestic use-Part 1: Specification for vacuum ware, insulated flasks and jugs", Japanese Standard JIS S 20062016 "Vacuum bottles", China Standard GB/T40355-2021 "Stainless steel vacuum container", GB/T 29606- 2013 "Stainless steel vacuum flask", QB/T 5285-2018 "Stainless steel vacuum airpot". The scope of application, classification, key technical requirements and detection methods of these five standards are obviously different. It can’t meet the quality arbitration and quality control requirements of international trade and production process of products. There is an urgent need for international standards with advanced technology, integrity and practicability to meet the high requirements of market development for technical standards.

The technical standards of this project are applicable to stainless steel vacuum container for domestic use with drinks and food, such as flasks (bottles, pots), air pots, food containers, and insulate cup, which is clarified product terms, definitions, and classifications. According to the product category, key core technical indicators such as Insulation performance (include heat and cold), stability, impact resistance, adhesion of coating, durability of pouring mechanism (for the air-pot) are proposed, and the repeatable and reproducible test methods are clarified, which can be used for arbitration of quality in international trade of stainless steel vacuum insulated products. The standard puts forward scientific and reasonable requirements for product safety and performance, it will have very good technical guiding significance to improve product quality for enterprises in various countries.
