Scope
This Technical Specification applies to electric dishwashers for household and similar use that are supplied with hot and/or cold water.
The dishwashing process is a complex operation consisting of cleaning of dish items and cleaning the dishwasher itself. This Technical Specification only focuses on microbiological properties of the dish items to be cleaned. This Technical Specification is concerned neither with safety nor with minimum performance requirements.
Purpose
There are IEC standards to determine the cleaning performance and energy use of household dishwashers, but no standard for the microbial reduction in dishwashers for household use.
Purpose: To develop a suitable test method to evaluate the hygiene efficacy of automatic dishwashing for household use.
