Overview: Under the direction of GEL/86, is responsible for the UK input to IEC/SC86B and CENELEC/86BXA in the field of fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components intended for use with optical fibres, fibre cables, optical fibre communication equipment and devices employing fibre optic technologies for purposes of trade and commerce. This activity covers all interconnecting devices such as connectors, connector/cable assemblies, terminated cables, splices, accessories such as closures, organizers, patch panels and all passive fibre optic components such as attenuators, switches, branching devices, wavelength multiplexers/demultiplexers, isolators, the combination of such components, for interconnecting or coupling between single or multiple optical fibres, fibre optic cables, fibre optic components, fibre optic measuring equipment, sensing devices, fibre optic terminal devices and fibre optic transmitting and receiving assemblies and subsystems
