Overview: Under the direction of the Standards Policy and Strategy Committee, the national committee STI/21 is responsible for the Standardization activities in the field of surface preparation and painting of metallic substrates. STI/21 covers the technical subjects of metallic and non-metallic abrasives, surface preparation standards for abrasive blast cleaning, wire brushing and high-pressure water jetting, measurement of surface profile and test methods for the physical and chemical cleanliness of metallic substrates. It also covers protective paint systems for the corrosion protection of steel substrates and associated laboratory performance test methods.
