ISO/PWI 11124-7.2 Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products -- Specifications for metallic blast-cleaning abrasives -- Part 7: high chromium cast iron grit

Scope

This part of ISO 11124 specifies requirements for high chromium white cast iron abrasive, as supplied for blast-cleaning processes. It specifies ranges of particle sizes, together with corresponding grade designations. Values are specified for hardness, density, defect/structural requirements, metallographic structure and chemical composition.

Purpose

Standard for white cast iron abrasive is missing also this product is available on the market from different manufacturers. Customers refer to ISO 11124 series when they ask for such abrasive. Manufacturers need such standard to support the sales. Discussion already started within main white cast iron abrasive manufacturers during meetings in December 2022 and January 2023.
