Scope

This document specifies procedures for quantitative nucleic acid based methods for the detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and derived products by analysing the nucleic acids extracted from the sample under study.

The main focus is on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based amplification methods. The methods have been established for DNA analysis of food matrices, but could also be applied to other matrices (e.g. feed, seeds and plant samples from the environment).

Purpose

The document is part of the revision of the former ISO 21570, which is planned to be split into ISO 21570-1 and ISO TS 21570-2, similar to the revision of ISO 21569.
