Scope

Specify general physical, electrical, functional, and performance requirements for conductive power transfer to an electric vehicle using a handheld conductive coupler capable of transferring either DC or single -phase AC power using two current-carrying contacts and associated controls/signal contacts.

• 690 V AC 50 Hz to 60 Hz, at a rated current not exceeding 250 A

• 1 500 V DC at a rated current not exceeding 800 A

Purpose

“NACS” is a widely deployed connector and charging system that is not currently defined by a standards development organization. Standardization will pave the way for compatibility, interoperability, safety, and consistency when used among multiple vendors .
