Scope

This part of IEC 60747-14-15 specifies terms and definitions, the measurement system, calibration procedures, test conditions, measurement procedures, performance evaluation methods, and reporting requirements for evaluating the measurement performance of microchannel integrated resonant mass sensors (MIRMSs) operating in surface adsorption mode. This document is applicable to MEMS-based microchannel integrated resonant mass sensors intended for label -free measurement of surface adsorption in liquid environ ments. This document does not apply to flow- through particle mass measurements or to resonant mass sensors intended for operation outside liquid environments.

Purpose

Microchannel integrated resonant mass sensors (MIRMSs) are emerging as a key MEMS -based technology for highly sensitive, label-free detection of biomolecular surface adsorption in liquid environments, with applications in medical diagnostics, drug discover y, environmental monitoring, food safety, and chemical analysis. As the global biosensor and point -of-care diagnostic markets continue to expand, there is an increasing need for internationally harmonized methods to evaluate sensor performance. This standard establishes standardized terminology, measurement systems, calibration procedures, test conditions, performance evaluation methods, and reporting requirements, thereby improving measurement reliability, reproducibility, and comparability across different devices and laboratories while facilitating technology commercialization and international trade.
