This document specifies the general requirements, test methods, and acceptance criteria for the unmanned aircraft dock system used for outdoor inspection in substation, including functions, performance requirements, test conditions, test procedures, acceptance criteria, packaging, transportation and storage.
This document is applicable to the unmanned aircraft dock system for outdoor inspection of substations of 110 kV and above.
In recent years, UAV inspection has been widely deployed in global substations O&M to improve grid operation safety and inspection efficiency, as documented in IEC/TR 63439-1-2. However, traditional UAV inspection relies on manual transportation, on-site assembly and human pilot control, which requires frequent battery replacement and repeated pre-flight preparation, resulting in high labor cost and insufficient inspection frequency. It cannot meet the demands of all-weather, high-precision and high-density inspection operations of substations.
In contrast, the unmanned aircraft dock system(UADS) realizes autonomous aircraft storage, automatic charging, unattended takeoff/landing, remote task scheduling and real-time data transmission, enabling full-process unmanned substation inspection, which helps to further enhance the efficiency of UAV-based substation inspections. Thus, it has been massively applied in China, Japan, UK, Austria and other countries across different-voltage-level substations. However, the worldwide UADSs vary in terms of system composition, functions, reliability performance(anti-electromagnetic interference performance, communication compatibility and information security) and so on, not all of which are applicable for substation inspection. Existing international standards including ISO/CD 25215, ISO/DIS 24243 and ISO/AWI 25909 only formulate general requirements for civil multi-copter dock under ordinary ambient conditions. Substations have dense power equipment, intense electromagnetic fields and diverse environments, which impose stricter requirements on the EMC performance, environmental adaptability and reliability of UADS. However, these aspects are not covered by the current international standards, which limits global unified procurement and large-scale standardized promotion. Therefore, it is urgent to develop international standards specifically for UADS used for substation inspections.
Therefore, this document is intended to specify the general requirements, test methods and acceptance criteria for UADS applied in substation inspections. It covers system functions, performance requirements, test conditions and procedures, making up the blank of substation- oriented UADS international standard, providing a basis for selecting suitable UADS and ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient execution of inspection tasks.
