The proposed standard aims to formalise existing industry guidance into a recognised British Standard, providing greater authority, consistency, and scrutiny in the installation and maintenance of fire blankets. It seeks to establish a clear framework for practitioners, support certification schemes such as BAFE SP101, and improve safety outcomes by reducing variability in current practices, while addressing the absence of an equivalent EN standard and reducing reliance on informal guidance
