Scope

This project will define a bitstream format and decoding process for compression of lenslet video that is efficient in terms of bitrate and quality.

Purpose

This project is to specify the coding of lenslet video, a dense light-field representation, in which the radiance and directional information of a three-dimensional scene are captured by plenoptic cameras. The purpose of this project is to enable efficient storage and transmission of such content over media delivery systems, facilitating immersive visual experiences by coding technologies compatibile with existing video standards.
