Standards Development
The aim of the IEC 63380 series is to define a standard interface for connecting charging stations to local energy management systems and the information exchange.
The IEC 63380 series specifies use cases, the sequences of information exchange, the data models as well as the communication protocols to be used and includes all aspects of local energy management of charging stations.
The IEC 63380 series consists of the following structure:
• IEC 63380-1: General requirements, use cases and abstract messages
• IEC 63380-2: Specific data model mapping
• IEC 63380-3: Communication protocol and cybersecurity specific aspects
• IEC 63380-4-x: Test specifications
This document focuses on defining conformance tests to the high-level description of the IEC 63380-1 Use Cases and primarily addresses the testing of the charging station.
These conformance tests specify the evaluation of the capabilities and behaviours of a charging station, as well as verifying what is observed against the requirements outlined in IEC 63380-1 and against what the implementer states the charging station implementation's capabilities are. It does not include the assessment of performance nor robustness or reliability of an implementation. The test specifications for data models and communication protocols will be addressed in separate documents.
Due to the interdependencies within the IEC 63380 series, it was not feasible to develop the test specification prior to the finalization of the other parts, including use cases, data models, and communication protocols. As a result, the cancellation date for IEC 63380-4 (Test Specification) has been reached. This new proposal aims to resume and advance the work on Part 4, ensuring that the test specification aligns with the finalized parts of the series. Part 4 (Test Specifications) will be divided into several documents to maintain manageability. The first document (this NP), IEC 63380-4-1, will cover the test specifications for defined Use Cases in part 1, followed by IEC 63380-4-2, which will address the test specifications for communication protocols defined in part 3.
