Scope

This part of IEC 6XXXX specifies terms and definitions, test environment and system requirement, test method and test report. This document is applicable to the performance tests for dynamic vision sensors.

Purpose

Dynamic Vision Sensors (DVS) are vision devices inspired by the human retina. Unlike conventional cameras that capture static grayscale images, DVS detect brightness changes at the pixel level through asynchronous event-based triggering. When a pixel's light intensity change exceeds a predefined threshold, the sensor outputs an event signal containing coordinate and polarity outputs an event signal containing coordinate and polarity information, achieving microsecond -level temporal resolution. Compared to traditional cameras, DVS offer significant advantages, including ultra -low latency, ultra- high dynamic range, and ultra-low power consumption, with data volumes reduced by over two orders of magnitude. These characteristics make DVS highly promising for app lications such as high-speed robot navigation, autonomous driving, and virtual reality interaction. However, the DVS industry faces challenges due to the lack of standardized definitions for key technical parameters and inconsistent testing methodologies. These issues hinder performance comparisons between different designs, slow down industrialization, and limit international collaborative innovation. This proposal seeks to establish an international standard for defining key technical parameters and unifyi ng testing methods for DVS. By providing a global technical benchmark, it aims to eliminate technical barriers, facilitate international cooperation, enhance development efficiency, promote DVS commercialization, reduce supply chain costs, and address the current absence of standardized performance evaluation methods for DVS.
