This part of IEC 62047 specifies a test method for the performances of antenna -coupled micro- electromechanical system (MEMS) bolometers (ACMB) intended for Terahertz (THz) sensing applications. It defines key measurement parameters, test conditions, and ev aluation procedures to assess the responsivity, noise-equivalent power (NEP), detectivity, and time constant of antenna - coupled MEMS bolometer devices operating typically in the frequency range from 0.1 THz to 10 THz.
This document applies to antenna-integrated MEMS bolometers employing thermal detection mechanisms such as resistive or thermoelectric readout. It does not cover photon -detector-based THz sensors, cryogenically cooled bolometers, or systems employing exter nal optical mixers.
The purpose of this proposal is to establish standardized test methods for antenna - coupled mems bolometers (acmbs), which integrate antenna structure with a mems - based thermal sensing element. terahertz sensing technologies are rapidly expanding into applications such as security screening, non-destructive testing, spectroscopy, biomedical imaging, and wireless communications. as thz systems advance toward practical deployment, reliable and reproducible detector performance evaluation becomes increasingly important. antenna-coupled mems bolometers are emerging as promising room-temperature thz detectors due to their compact structure, low power consumption, and compatibility with semiconductor manufacturing processes. there is a strong industrial need for re liable and reproducible test methods that can evaluate acmbs. this document provides standardized test methods, measurement conditions, and evaluation procedures for antenna-coupled mems bolometers intended for terahertz sensing applications. in particular, this document will provide test methods for key performance parameters, including responsivity, noise-equivalent power (nep), detectivity, and time constant of acmbs
