Scope

The British Standard gives recommendations for the organization and management of assessment, stabilization, mitigation and restoration of properties, contents, facilities and assets following incident damage. This standard is intended to provide recommendations to individual damage management practitioners and organizations involved in carrying out damage management. It is applicable to domestic, commercial and public buildings.

Purpose

The purpose of the revision revolves around ensuring the standard reflects changes in UK legislation and regulatory expectations, particularly in relations to damp, mould and habitability. With the previous edition being published in 2015, it's important that the standard continues to reflect modern industry practice, diagnostics, sustainability considerations and carbon-aware restorations. There has also been several revisions to key standards in continuity and resilience, including BS ISO 22301 and BS ISO 22316.
