This standard specifies a categorial structure in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) informatics by defining a set of domain constraints composed of sanctioned characteristics and semantic links. It defines domain constraints, sanctioned characteristics, and semantic relationships used to describe individual patients, practitioners, and related actors in the context of digital TCM systems This part builds upon the foundational model established in Part 1 and focuses on standardizing the representation of individuals for use in healthcare, research, and administrative applications.
Establishing a semantic classification framework for TCM informatics helps clarify the TCM information process, accelerate the integration, utilization, and dissemination of TCM knowledge, enhance clinical decision support, improve the consistency and interoperability of TCM information, and promote international communication and cooperation in TCM. The sources of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) information are diverse, encompassing various fields such as healthcare, pharmaceutical and clinical research and distribution. The data formats vary, and the volume of information is vast. This not only provides rich resources for the development of TCM informatics but also poses significant challenges in processing TCM information. Concurrently, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) offers new ideas and methods for addressing these difficulties. The establishment of a semantic classification framework in TCM informatics lays the foundation for the application of AI in the field of TCM, leveraging AI to tackle complex issues in TCM information research.
This standard provides a core semantic model to improve the consistency and efficiency of TCM data representation and supports knowledge graph construction and terminology development. The standard is expected to enhance interoperability and promote international alignment in digital TCM applications with support for interoperability, consistency, and semantic clarity in data exchange, electronic health records, knowledge graphs, and clinical decision support systems within TCM.
