Scope

This document provides a process and guidance for digital twin model construction. this document specifies:

- information preparation requirement;

- basic types of models of digital entity,

- the principles of development,

- the model verification and calibration.

Purpose

Digital Twins are intensively used in many industry sectors and standardisation domains: smart energy, smart manufacturing, smart cities, active assisted living, buildings, transportation, aviation, construction, automotive, healthcare, etc. Some of these sectors and domains have developed their initial understanding of digital twins and those initial standardisation efforts show the great potentials of digital twins for various type of entities of the real world. It is understood that a systemic use of digital twins can provide manifold improvement in performance of some equipment, reduce the construction cost, and improve the interoperability. The goal of this standard is to provides a process and guidance for digital twin model construction with the use of the IEC Systems Approach.
