This document provides an overview of monitoring and reporting in a multi-cloud environment. It extends the existing cloud computing reference architecture in ISO/IEC 22123-3 to describe monitoring and reporting in a multi-cloud environment.
Cloud Service Customers (CSCs) are increasingly shifting towards Hybrid (Private + Public) and multicloud environments to run their workloads on the best suited platform for optimum performance and cost effectiveness and more importantly they don’t want to cut themself off from future possibilities by engaging them with just one provider.
Multi-cloud monitoring and reporting management plays a pivotal role provide enhanced visibility and control on various CSP resources, SLAs, SLOs, enabling CSCs to oversee performance, availability, and health across various CSP platforms. This unified view ensures better control, informed decisionmaking, and proactive issue resolution, leading to optimized resource allocation and high availability.
Cost optimization is another key benefit, as monitoring tools track resource usage and spending, helping identify inefficiencies and opportunities for savings. This includes rightsizing resources and leveraging cost-effective options from different providers, thus managing expenditures effectively.
Additionally, enhanced security and compliance are ensured through real-time threat detection and vulnerability assessments. Streamlined troubleshooting and incident response further enhance service reliability. Comprehensive reporting tools offer data-driven insights for strategic decision-making, enabling better planning and operational efficiency in a multi-cloud environment for a given CSC.
