Scope

The method describes a procedure for determining the individual and total alcoholic compound content of olive oils and olive pomace oils as well as of blends of these two oils. The alcoholic compounds in olive and olive pomace oils comprise aliphatic alcohols, sterols and triterpenic dialcohols.

Purpose

These components are important for the characterisation of olive oil and enables detection of adulteration with other oil types.
