This document is applicable to the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of information publishing system based on IoT.
Background
Information publishing system is a system that combines hardware and software to publish information to the public. In recent years, with the development of economy and the progress of technology, the application fields of information publishing system at home and abroad have been increasin g, such as government affairs, public display, enterprise exhibition halls, banks, financial institutions, etc. Especially in China, the government has issued a series of policies to promote the construction of smart cities. As one of the important components of smart city, information publishing system has been developed rapidly. The technological innovation and market competitiveness of the global core information publishing system manufacturers have been continuously improved, which has helped the techno logical change and application of the information publishing system. The market size of information publishing systems continues to expand and is expected to continue to grow in the future.
However, the traditional information publishing system has many limitations, such as low intelligence of the terminal, information update is not timely, high maintenance cost, poor user experience and so on. In addition, with the popularization of mobile internet and the wide application of intelligent terminal equipment, users have put forward higher requirements for information publishing systems. Expect to be able to gain the latest and most accurate information anytime and anywhere, and want to be able to interact and feedback with the information publishing systems. The traditional information publishing systems are more and more difficult to meet the needs of modern information dissemination.
In recent years, with the rapid development and updating of the IoT technology, the application of IoT has been gradually promoted and adopted in various industries, which has greatly promoted the innovative development of various industries. IoT technology has also brought revolutionary changes to the information publishing systems and produced good results. The information publishing systems based on the IoT can not only meet the basic requirements of information publishing, but also meet the increasing n eeds of the audience for information acquisition, interaction and experience. At the same time, it can use advanced technologies such as the IoT, big data and AI to improve the security of the system, reduce system operating and maintenance costs, improve the effect of information publishing, and gradually become the mainstream information publishing method. a) Improving the efficiency of information dissemination IoT technology enables real-time information update and remote management. Information publishing system managers can publish new information content at any time through the background system, without going to the site for operation. At the same time, IoT technology supports a variety of communication protocols, which can ensure the stability and reliability of information transmission.
b) Reduce operation and maintenance costs
The traditional information publishing systems need to replace the content and maintain the equipment regularly, which consumes a lot of manpower and material resources. The information publishing systems based on IoT technology can realize remote monitoring and management, automatically detect the operating status and failure of the equipment, and issue alarms in time to notify operators for processing. This greatly reduces operation and maintenance costs and improves work efficiency.
c) Improve audience experience
IoT technology has brought rich interactive functions and personalized services to the information publishing systems. For example, through the touch screen or mobile application, users can independently search the information content of interest; Through artificial intelligence (AI) group data analysis algorithm, the systems can recommend relevant information content based on audience's browsing history and preferences. These innovative features greatly improve audience experience and satisfaction. IoT tec hnology can also achieve accurate push and targeted publishing according to the user's location information and behaviour habits, improving the effect of information dissemination.
d) Enhanced security
Information publishing systems are used in public places, commercial institutions, government departments and other fields, so information security is one of the important challenges faced by information publishing systems. IoT technology uses security measures such as encryption algorithms, access control mechanisms, and firewalls to protect the security and privacy of information during transmission. At the same time, IoT technology can also monitor and protect information publishing devices in real time to prevent illegal intrusion and sabotage.
2 Necessity of developing an International standard
Although the application of IoT technology in the information publishing systems has brought many advantages, there are still some pain points because there is no international standard specification.
a) Compatibility and scalability issues
There are many IoT devices used in the information publishing system. Due to the lack of unified standards and specifications, the device interfaces produced by different manufacturers are designed by themselves, and the definitions and protocols vary greatly. At the same time, the systems have problems such as high coupling degree, difficult to update and expand new technologies, insufficient service and horizontal expansion ability, and difficult to cope with business growth needs. These seriously restric t the expansion and cascade application of the systems. Therefore, a unified standard is required.
b) System security issues
The application of IoT devices is increasing, the amount of data is increasing, and the development ability and service level of service providers of information publishing systems are uneven, emphasizing the realization of functions and ignoring security. Information publishing systems are vulnerable to hacker attacks and malware. Therefore, it is necessary to develop standard to strengthen the security design and protection measures of the systems, strengthen the permission management, and improve the sec urity of encrypted data storage and transmission.
c) Cost and energy consumption
Due to the increase of a variety of IoT devices, the initial cost of information publishing system construction is high, and after putting into operation, the system and various devices need to run for a long time and stay online, and the energy consumption is high. The information publishing system needs to reduce energy consumption levels and operation and maintenance costs through efficient energy -saving technologies and optimization algorithms, thereby reducing the overall long -term cost. Energy-saving technologies and optimization algorithms also need standards to specify and require.
d) Privacy issues
The IoT devices of the information publishing systems may involve personal privacy issues in the process of collecting and processing user data (such as cameras take audience's face pictures, etc.), ensuring the security and privacy of user data is also a problem that the information publishing systems must solve, otherwise it will violate the privacy laws of some countries. Therefore, it is necessary to develop standard to specify the storage rights and processing methods of private data, improve the privacy protection mechanism, and strengthen the protection and management of audience data.
In conclusion, the development of standard about information publishing systems based on IoT, on the one hand, can promote IoT technology to meet the needs of modern information dissemination, on the other hand, can solve the application of IoT technology and equipment to the information publishing system brought pain points. At present, the international standard for information publishing systems based on IoT is still in a "blank state". In the background of the continuous application of IoT technology in the field of information publishing, accelerating the development of international standards for information publishing systems based on IoT can maximize the advantages of IoT, save energy and reduce emissions for information publishing system, improve operation and maintenance efficiency, and improve user experience. It can also ensure data security, reduce system risks, and better serve the public.
3 Current status of related international standards system
At present, the overview of published/under-developed international standards for IoT systems which may related to this proposed international standard are as follows:
- ISO/IEC 21823-1:2019 Internet of Things (IoT)
- Interoperability for IoT systems - Part 1: Framework
- ISO/IEC 30179:2023 Internet of Things (IoT) - Overview and general requirements of IoT system for ecological environment monitoring
- ISO/IEC 30141:2024 Internet of things (IoT) - Reference architecture
Among them, ISO/IEC 21823-1: 2019 provides a general specification for the interoperability of IoT systems and the interoperability framework of IoT systems, which is weakly related to the content of this international standard proposal, and has no reference part. It will not used as a normative reference document of this international standard proposal, but only as a reference when the international standard proposal is drafted.
ISO/IEC 30179:2023 specifies the system infrastructure and system entities of IoT systems for natural ecological environment monitoring, as well as the general requirements of IoT systems for ecological environment monitoring. Although the standardized obj ect is IoT system for ecological environment monitoring, and is different from the proposed international standard, it can be used as a reference when drafting the draft international standard.
ISO/IEC 30141:2024 defines a common IoT reference architecture in terms of defining system characteristics, conceptual models, reference models and architectures, providing important theoretical support for the design of IoT information publishing systems in this international standard proposal. However, the content of the proposed international standard specification does not include the system architecture, so ISO/IEC 30141:2024 is not used as a normative reference document for the international standard proposal, but only as a reference when the international standard proposal was drafted.
In all, the proposed standard is complementary and coordinated with other standards in the international standard system. The content of the standard proposal is derived from the functional characteristics, technical characteristics and business characteristics of the mainstream information publishing systems based on IoT in the industry, which can enhance the internationality and universality of the standard from the perspective of the international market or practical application. Therefore, the standard proposal has a relatively solid foundation for development, which is conducive to the follow -up promotion and release of the project.
