The objective of this document is firstly to address the interconnecting schemes of renewable DERs to the power grid, direct and indirect interconnection, and then to clarify the relationships between stakeholders such as aggregators, TSO/DSO, DER management systems) focusing on renewable DERs directly connected to the grid. The concept and requirements of such smart energy systems is shown.
The second objective is to depict system configurations or architecture in association with relevant system components based on the above system concept. Furthermore, interactions between system components are described to evaluate conceptual values of such smart energy systems.
Regarding distributed energy resource aggregation business (ERAB) where aggregators utilize DERs for contributing to power grid operations such as demand-supply adjustment, although there already is a document using DERs in customer premises; IEC SRD 63443 Distributed Energy Resource Aggregation Business System: Architecture and Service scenario, this document focuses specifically on operation and management of DERs directly connected to the power grid.
