There are emerging applications with objectives that can be more easily achieved through the participation of multiple IoT devices, possibly of different types. These applications include regional and local events detection, event identification with multiple devices, e.g. location tracking, and spatio-temporal events for single individuals, e.g. an elderly’s activity detection.
These applications can utilize a common service, whose functions include device registration for participation on a task, context-based device selection for job distribution, data collection from multiple sensors, context - based data processing, knowledge distillation, and incentive mechanism. In this document, these functions are called collectively as the collaboration service.
