ISO/IEC NP 10822-2 Cloud computing — Multi-cloud management — Part 2: Identity management

Scope

This document provides an overview of identity management in a multi-cloud environment. It extends the existing cloud computing reference architecture in ISO/IEC 22123-3 to describe an identity management in a multi-cloud environment.

Purpose

Cloud Service Customers (CSCs) are increasingly shifting towards Hybrid (Private + Public) and multicloud environments to run their workloads on the best suited platform for optimum performance and cost effectiveness and more importantly they don’t want to cut themself off from future possibilities by engaging them with just one provider.

This is where multi-cloud identity management can play a crucial role for providing integrated identity management for CSCs across multiple CSPs providing them opportunity to standardize their access management process and enhance operational efficiency.

It can eliminate redundant access management tasks across multiple CSPs and increase consistent and integrated access across multiple CSPs for a given CSC.

CSC will benefit from improved compliance, access and authorization policy stability, improved handling of privilege escalation, business continuity and resilience across multiple CSPs.
