Scope
This document specifies the method for measuring the battery duration at a defined sound pressure level for continuous music playback of wearable powered loudspeaker equipment. A primary battery or secondary battery can be used as a power source for such a shoulder-carried and body-worn loudspeaker and its composite device. Bone conduction speakers are excluded. In addition, only equipment that can be placed on or hung from a HATS is covered.
Purpose
Wearable powered loudspeaker equipment and earphones are commonly used to reduce the environmental acoustic noise to which the ear is exposed. However, there is no international standard for the battery duration measurement methods of active noise cancelling headphones and earphones. Each company evaluated the performance using its own method, and the evaluation values were not uniform. The operating time of active noise cancelling headphones and earphones vary depending on the reproduced sound pressure and environmental sound pressure level. A standard for measurement methods of the battery duration and notation of measured value allows comparison of performance data obtained in different locations.
