Scope

This document specifies the method of transmitting non-linear PCM bit streams encoded according to AVS3-P3 audio format. The coding of bit stream and data burst conforms to IEC 61937-1 and IEC 61937-2.

Reference point, repetition period, method of filling stream gap, and decoding delay are specified.

The transmitter should consider the decoding delay to schedule data bursts as needed to establish synchronization between the image and the decoded audio.

Purpose

This AVS3-P3 is the third generation of AVS coding standard series for the immersive audio coding. AVS3-P3 is applicable to broadcast streaming media, Internet TV, real-time communication, virtual reality, augmented reality, video surveillance, digital storage media, and many other fields. AVS3-P3 is widely used in the China’s domestic market and is processing for the international market.

This proposal will address the transmission and collaboration of AVSA 3D panoramic acoustic signals on televisions, set-top boxes, stereos and home theater equipment, which will be helpful for enriching display contents and will give customers more choice.
