Scope

This document provides guidance to cloud service customers on business continuity and resilience when using cloud services.

Purpose

Cloud computing is not explicitly addressed in the ISO 223xx series or ISO/IEC DIS 27031 standards. However, CSPs and CSNs could benefit from these standards, but none of these documents address cloud computing in a way that would help CSCs address their business continuity issues when their core ICT resources are outside of their direct control. Having materials that help CSCs address their business continuity as well as resilience needs would be beneficial. In addition, there are a few mentions of business continuity and resilience in the SC 38 portfolio (e.g. ISO/IEC 22123 series, ISO/IEC 19086 series, and ISO/IEC DIS 5140), but these documents only highlight the importance and do not provide much in the way of specifics.
