This document is applicable to development and improvement of the terms and concepts relevant to energy challenge in smart city
With the impact of global climate change and energy scarcity, cities and city stakeholders have to actively cope with the energy challenge to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Smart city is a complex system of systems in which smart energy plays an important role. Many energy Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) mainly considered the energy system itself to cope with energy challenge, such as improving power generation efficiency, increasing renewable energy use, reducing transmission and distribution losses. Whereas it is necessary for all systems in smart city to cope with energy challenge jointly, rather than relying on smart energy alone.
Thus, smart cities will be better equipped to tackle the energy challenges which they face, by integrating systems such as industries, transports, and buildings in smart cities through information and communication technologies (ICTs).
This document will provide an integrated concept system to foster harmonization of different perspectives on energy challenge in smart city. Firstly, this document will help stakeholders of smart city identify the content of energy challenges in smart city. Furthermore, this document will provide a fundamental framework for the consistency and standardization of smart city to cope with the energy challenges. Moreover, this document will help SDOs to find out the gap on relevant concepts and standards.
This document is fundamental to the effective development of top-down design, the engineering construction, management and operation, the standards development et al., which will promote collaboration, communication and connectivity of the above and enhance the sustainable development of smart city globally
