CEN/TC 54 adoption of a PWI for EN 13445-15, hydrogen (WG54) Unfired pressure vessels — Part 15: Specific requirements for hydrogen applications

Scope

“This Part 15 of this document specifies requirements for unfired pressure vessels and their parts made for hydrogen application in addition to the general requirements for unfired pressure vessels under EN 13445-1:2021, EN 13445-2:2021, EN 13445-3:2021, EN 13445-4:2021, EN 13445-5:2021, EN 13445-8:2021, EN 13445-10:2021 and EN 13445-11:2023.

This document distinguishes between four services/damage mechanisms, which might exist in combinations:

 Low temperature service;

 Hydrogen Environmental Embrittlement (HEE) or Hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC);

 High Temperature Hydrogen Attack (HTHA);

 Hydrogen service with cyclic loads (fatigue).

This document does not cover corrosion such as electro-chemical corrosion of metals under participation of hydrogen (e.g. sour gas).”
