Scope

This part of IEC 61076-8 describes 3-pole snap locking waterproof rectangular power connectors with plastic housing, including overall dimensions, interface dimensions, technical characteristics, performance requirements and test methods.

This detail specification is applicable to electrical connectors with a rated voltage up to and including 250 V rated current of 20 A, in the field of electrical and electronic equipment.

Purpose

a) To regulate interface for snap locking requirement in electromechanical equipment area and improve electricity safety and reliability in the situation, the proposal of this specification will fill the international and domestic blank in this field, and enhance ranking and influence of china in international standard.

b) By the application of this specification, existing various power connection interface will be integrated, wiring mode will be optimized, the cost of communication power industry will be effectively reduced and the international competition ability of communication equipment supplier will be promoted.

c) The product mentioned in this specification has been widely applied in domestic and international electromechanical equipment. With the combination of high security, high reliability, low cost, small profile, and easy handling, the product has stable and reliable performance and meets the development trend of snap locking connector, so it can also be used as the technical basis for the future development of the connector.

d) The urgency of the standard development: the existing various types of snap locking connector and different interfaces make the necessary supporting tools\equipment large quantities and the industrial investment huge, so it is urgent to make them regulated.
