Standards Development
This part of IEC 61076-8 describes 2P power plus 2P signal rectangular plastic housing shielded power connectors with 300 A rated current and IP68/IPXXB degree of protection for electrical and electronic equipment, including overall dimensions, interface dimensions, technical characteristics, performance requirements and test methods.
The products specified by this detail specification are applicable to electrical connection with 1 000 V d.c. rated voltage and 300 A rated current, and sealing, shielding and electric shock protection requirements in the field of electrical and electronic equipment.
a) To unify the structure and dimensions of plastic housing power connectors for higher current transmission and specify more reliable performance of electrical transmission, this proposal will enrich the existing IEC standard system for plastic housing shielded power connectors.
b) By application of this specification, product structure and dimensions can be unified to guarantee intermating and universality so as to avoid waste and reduce cost ; product performance characteristics and test methods can be unified to ensure product quality and reliability in the market; product types can be reduced for convenient selection to promote global application.
c) The products mentioned in this specification with improved performance of high-current transmission are more and more widely applied for high-voltage power transmission for electronic equipment. The product meets the development trend of high-voltage connection, so it can also provide technical basis for future development of high-voltage power connectors.
d) Urgency of standard development: existing various types of plastic housing shielded power connectors for 300A current transmission have different interfaces, so they can not be intermated; their performance characteristics and test methods are not standardized, so product quality can not be guaranteed.
Therefore, it is urgent to standardize them.
e) Referred 2P power plus 2P signal rectangular plastic housing shielded power connectors with 300 A rated current and IP68/IPXXB degree of protection in this specification can provide higher current-transmission solution and this specification has no conflict with other existing standards and regulations.
