PNW TS SYCSMARTENERGY-199 ED1 - Reference Guidance for Energy Service Business Using Thermal Energy Storage Systems

Scope

This System Reference Document (SRD) provides a landscape of power energy services using Thermal Energy Storage Systems (TESS) of customer’s premises. This document describes the guidance of the energy service of supply and demand adjustment between the electric utility and the consumer. This document focuses on the business level and complements other TC's (TC57, etc.) standards. The customer’s premise is not only for commercial but also for residential and industry. This document is limited to the energy service of supply and demand adjustment between the electric utility and the consumer to specify its business cases in conjunction with necessary system cases.

Purpose

Electric power energy services that provide flexibility are extremely important because they provide a stable supply of electric power in situations where a large amount of renewable energies had been installed.

Currently, the realization of optimal power supply configuration and control, which is the total cost minimum for society, is required.

This can be achieved by coordinating the flexibility service (electricity supply and demand adjustment) between the facilities such as distributed energy resources or loads of customers and the utilities.

This document (SRD) is a guidance on electric power energy services such as power supply and demand adjustment by the customer's thermal energy system based on the best practice.
