This document applies to plano surfaces, rotationally invariant (spherical and aspherical) surfaces, circular and non-circular cylindrical (cylindrical and acylindrical) surfaces, and non-symmetrical surfaces (general surfaces). General surfaces are described using ISO 10110 19.
The revision of ISO 10110-6 was decided after the Systematic Review of the Deliverable in 2020 (see N1170) and a Preliminary Work Item was started via Resolution 11/2020. The systematic review found that an entire class of optical components (plano surfaces) were not included in the scope of this document and there was no notation for surface tilt. By revising this document to include tilt of flat surfaces and optical components as well as prisms, end users making drawings of optics and photonics components will be able to use ISO 10110 for a broader range of parts, saving cost and complexity. The NWIP will be for 8 weeks, as confirmed by Resolution 3/2021.
