Standards Development
This part of the standard specifies requirements for plastic stakes used for surveying control points and miscellaneous boundary markers to be placed into ground. It specifies the most important requirements for dimension, strength, heat resistance and environmental safety. The standard includes recycled plastic as a possible material for plastic stakes.
- Plastic stakes have features that are superior in workability compared to regular survey stakes.
- Plastic stakes are becoming increasingly popular in many countries and they have made their own standards and manuals. However, there is no international standard.
- The intention of the standard is to describe markers for the use in surveying, civil engineering, construction, boundary point installation, but it is likely that such markers will be used for other applications in the future.
- In developing countries, an international standard will help to improve the product quality and make it easier to select survey stakes.
- Adding RFID may give an additional high value.
- By using recycled material, a contribution is made to reduce the production of plastic waste and therfore a contribution is made to global environmental protection. When using plastic material (recycled plastic), it is used in addition to environmental regulation in each country.
Survey marker have a wide range of applications and need to be used in a series of standards such as Metal markers and Nail markers.
