CEN/TC 459/SC 10 N 731, Revision of EN 10242 Threaded pipe fitting in malleable cast iron

Scope

The standard specifies the requirements for the design and performance of threaded pipe fittings in malleable cast iron. These fittings are for general purposes for the transmission of fluids and gases up to the limits of pressure and temperature specified in this standard. They are intended for the connection of elements threaded in accordance with ISO 7-1, sizes 1/8 to 6. For use in conditions outside the pressure and temperature limits specified, reference shall be made to the manufacturer.

Purpose

EN 10242 is a very old standard. In the years following its publication in 1995 two amendments were published. A revision of EN 10242 was blocked due to conflict with the CPR (Construction Products Regulation) which could be resolved. EN 10242 shall therefore be revised to incorporate the amendments and to reflect the current state of the art.

Referencing Decision CEN/BT C240/2020 the work item shall be restarted to be developed as non-harmonized standard.
