This 201 part presents requirements and guidelines for common information models (CIM) for modules of service robots, where the CIM relates to interoperability and reusability and is taking into account of safety and security.
Examples of implementation and test methodologies are presented for modules for validation in typical intended use case applications.
This 201 standard provides requirements and guidelines for common information models of modules to achieve the following:
- Easy integration of modules without any extra effort for interactions among modules,
- Minimal functions for service robot modules,
- Allow module designers and manufacturers to define and use module functions for achieving their own service robot module characteristics,
- Enable module users to be provided appropriate service robot modules depending on functions of a target service robot and user’s affordable expense.
For the active utilization of service robot modules and service robot market expansion, it is necessary to share a common information(including interfaces) allowing use and reuse for exchanging service robot modules while meeting required interoperability, reusability, safety, and security. The output of the standard will accelerate the expansion of service robot markets as well as robot application services. In addition, developers, designers, and manufactures of service robots can provide various types of service robots with ease and at lower cost. Users of service robots can also exchange the disordered service robot module into a normal new service robot module by themselves.
