ISO/TR 52016-4 Energy performance of buildings — Energy needs for heating and cooling, internal temperatures and sensible and latent heat loads – Part 4: Explanation and justification of ISO 52016-3

Scope

This technical report will explain, justify and facilitate the application of the new standard ISO 52016-3 ―Energy performance of buildings — Energy needs for heating and cooling, internal temperatures and sensible and latent heat loads – Part 3: Calculation procedures regarding adaptive building envelope elements‖

This standard specifies procedures for the calculation of the energy needs for heating and cooling, internal temperatures and sensible and latent heat loads of a building according to ISO 52016-1, with additions or modifications that are needed to incorporate adaptive building envelope elements in the calculation.

ISO 52016-3 is part of the ISO 52000 family of standards on the assessment of the overall energy performance of buildings. The main use of this family is the assessment of the energy performance of buildings in the context of building regulations, for comparison between buildings and building information (energy performance labels and certificates) and for checking compliance with minimum energy performance criteria.

Purpose

The standards in the ISO 52000 family are kept as short as possible to facilitate translation and implementation in the regulations.

For each standard (or sometimes clusters of standards) in the ISO 52000 family, explanation and examples are provided in an accompanying technical report. Also for ISO 52016-3 additional explanation and examples are strongly needed. This complementary technical report will explain and justify step by step the procedures of the standard and provide examples.

Consequently, the technical report will facilitate the understanding of the standard and its application.

This work item (if approved) will be carried out under the Vienna Agreement between ISO and CEN, with ISO lead, in cooperation with CEN/TC 89.
