This part of ISO 6370 specifies the requirements for the testing apparatus to be used for the determination of the resistance to abrasion of vitreous and porcelain enamel coatings.
This proposal is for the adoption of ISO 6370-1:1991 'Vitreous and porcelain enamels — Determination of the resistance to abrasion — Part 1: Abrasion testing apparatus ' as a European standard.
The ISO 6370 standard is the only test standard for the determination of resistance to abrasion which is specifically designed for vitreous and porcelain enamel finishes, The ISO 6370 standard uses established equipment and methodology and is widely used globally therefore adopting it as a European standard is beneficial to ensure that a common and consistent approach is taken for the testing of the abrasion parameter for all vitreous and porcelain enamel finishes where applicable.
