This proposal is for the adoption of ISO 6370-2:2020 'Vitreous and porcelain enamels — Determination of the resistance to abrasion — Part 2: Loss in mass after sub-surface abrasion' as a European standard.
The ISO 6370 standard is the only test standard for the determination of resistance to abrasion which is specifically designed for vitreous and porcelain enamel finishes, The ISO 6370 standard uses established equipment and methodology and is widely used globally therefore adopting it as a European standard is beneficial to ensure that a common and consistent approach is taken for the testing of the abrasion parameter for all vitreous and porcelain enamel finishes where applicable.
ISO 6370-2 has also recently been revised through Committee ISO/TC 107 and was published in 2020 and therefore it is current and in its specification of determining the resistance to abrasion by rubbing, grinding or other mechanical effects.
