Scope

This document establishes requirements and recommendations for tourist organizations to reduce the spread of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in order to provide safer services to tourists and residents.

This document applies to the whole tourism value chain, including:

- Hotels and apartments

- Rural accommodation

- Yacht Harbours and nautical activities

- Natural Protected Areas

- Beaches

- Tourist bus companies, rent a car, cableway and tourism water transport

- Tourist guides

- Night Leisure

- Medical Spas

- Museums and heritage sites

- MICE Tourism

- Hostels

- Unique public spaces

- Travel agencies

- Adventure Tourism

- Tourist information services

- Theme parks

- Restaurants

- Campsites

- Tourist visits

- Golf courses 

Purpose

The outbreak of SARS-Cov-2 epidemic has threaten the tourism industry, as one of the most affected by the global lockdown. After the “first wave”, it is urgent to establish the safety measures to be implemented by the tourist organizations in order to provide services in safe conditions. All this, taking into account that the situation of the pandemic is far away (apparently) to disappear and that similar outbreaks of the virus is expected for the coming months.

The purpose of this document is to provide a guideline to the tourist organizations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus SARS-Cov-2 among employees, tourists and residents at the destination considering general requirements and recommendations to manage this specific risk as well as specific requirements and recommendations through the different departments or operational processes of each tourism organization. Through the implementation of these measures, each tourism organisation will be able to provide safer tourism services and to generate networks and safer destinations with the final objective to regain trust from the tourists.
