Representing and visualizing Smart Cities and their associated data using standardized approaches will enable prototyping, analysis and demonstration of Smart City concepts.
ISO/IEC XXXX will: • define requirements for Smart City representation • define requirements for Smart City visualization • provide guidance on appropriate visualization techniques for Smart City data • provide guidance for application of existing ISO standards to Smart City representation and visualization
Smart City is an emerging concept in global urban development. The ability to model and visualize a future Smart City, its data, information, and attributes will facilitate and accelerate development of Smart City concepts.
In order to manage smart cities remotely and effectively, visualization technologies for smart cities should be provided through standardized methods. In addition, 3D data models and functions for smart city visualization should be defined in a standardized way so that there is no duplication in the development of smart city resources.
These concepts were examined and reported in the 2018 SC 24 Study Group report, Visualization and Representation of Smart Cities (SC 24 N4136). The topics were also presented (JTC 1/WG 11 N514) and discussed during a productive JTC 1/WG 11 information exchange session in July 2019. Both of these documents, along with the initial outline of the proposed Technical Specification, accompany this NWIP.
