Multi-Copter UA is widely used for individual hobby such as image shooting and racing due to advantages such as vertical take-off and landing, hovering flight. Generally, performance evaluation standards are limited to individual components such as motors and propellers. However, performance evaluation for individual components makes it difficult to verify the flight stability and safety of Multi-Copter UA as an aircraft. In order to solve the problem, a new flight performance evaluation method is proposed which evaluate flight performance under practical flight conditions.
This newly proposed flight performance test evaluation method consists of 3 categories. The first test evaluation is for measuring the take-off and landing performance under the specified wind speed. The second test evaluation is for measuring the flight performance under the specified wind speed while flying. The third test evaluation is for measuring the flight performance under the specified wind speed and rain while flying. In the first test evaluation, take-off and landing are performed while adjusting the wind speed and measuring vertical flight path error. In the second test evaluation, flight evaluation for six directions(up, down, left, right, forward, backward) is performed while adjusting wind speed and measuring 6 directional flight path error. The third test evaluation is including rainfall components in the second test evaluation. For this evaluation, a special device capable of reproducing wind(15m/s) and rainfall is required. Each flight performance evaluation is determined by flight path error between desired and measured using measuring system which has a positioning accuracy of 1cm.
