Scope

This document specifies the gas compatibility test methods and the evaluation of results from these tests in order to qualify plastic materials suitable for use in the manufacture of composite gas cylinder liners. It may also be used to evaluate the suitability of plastic matrix materials used for Type 5 cylinders.

Purpose

ISO 11114-5 – Transportable gas cylinders. Compatibility of cylinder and valve materials with gas contents. Part 5: Test methods for selecting plastic liners, is a new standard being developed by ISO/TC58, Gas cylinders.

The compatibility of plastic liners with gas contents is not fully treated in other EN or ISO standards. Even when addressed in the cylinder standards the test methods are not fully harmonised.

Others standards within the ISO 11114 portfolio (Parts 1 to 4) have been converted to EN ISO status.

This standard will be of benefit as a harmonised document.
