Standards Development
This document defines individual concepts that together provide a framework for a vocabulary common to different stakeholders with interests in municipal wastewater sludge recovery, recycling, treatment and disposal. It is intended to facilitate common understanding and communication on undertaking such activities.
The following are within the scope of this document: definition of a vocabulary common to the different stakeholders; and definition of key elements and characteristics of municipal wastewater sludge recovery, recycling, treatment and disposal activities.
This document is intended to:
• help stakeholders understand the fundamental concepts and vocabulary of wastewater sludge recovery, recycling, treatment and disposal. This will help to effectively and efficiently influence such provision, and realize value from use of the ISO/TC 275 family of documents;
• facilitate dialogue between the stakeholders, enabling their mutual understanding of the functions and tasks that fall within the scope of wastewater sludge recovery, recycling, treatment and disposal.
This document contains a vocabulary of relevant to the topic. It is applicable to all such activities by all sizes and types of operations. This document aims to increase stakeholders’ awareness of the opportunities for sludge recovery, recycling, treatment and use.
