Standards Development
This part of IEC 61535 specifies PV installation coupler systems up to five poles including earth, if provided, with a rated voltage up to and including 500 V AC for permanent connection in outdoor applications of electrical PV-installations.
NOTE 1 This standard applies only to PV installation couplers, e.g. for string inverter, or microinverter and more in outdoor application. For indoor application these requirements can also be applied.
NOTE 2 This standard does not apply to connectors on DC-side of PV-systems. For these types of connectors IEC 62852:2014 [5] applies.
PV installation couplers according to this standard are suitable for operation at ambient temperature between −40°C to +85°C.
In PV-systems, where special conditions prevail, as in ships, vehicles and the like and in hazardous locations, for example where explosions are liable to occur, special constructions may be required.
NOTE 3 PV installation coupler systems are intended to be installed by instructed or skilled persons.
