Scope

This document specifies methods for measuring electrical power of Small Network Equipment (SNE) while in active mode. It defines the interfaces that shall be active and connected for this test procedure to determine electrical power of the equipment under test while it is connected, able to communicate, but operating in a state with no user-generated traffic.

This document covers the configuration of three aspects to conduct testing: the SNE device, test environment and the Test Client(s). A Small Network Equipment device could be any device including, but not limited to, those having the following WAN and LAN interfaces:

 DOCSIS cable modem

 DSL modem

 Optical Network Termination (ONT) device

 Ethernet

 MoCA®[1]

 Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11)
